The SMVHS has sterilized more than 22,000 animals in our low cost spay and neuter clinic since 1998. Procedures for healthy cats and dogs are available by appointment Monday through Friday and are performed by fully licensed and experienced veterinarians. At the time of a spay/neuter procedure, low cost vaccinations, deworming, and microchipping can also be administered for an additional fee. Because we are a clinic and not a full service veterinarian office we restrict the number of spay/neuter procedures on the following types of animals:
  • dogs under 10 lbs.
  • brachycephalic (flat faced) cats or dogs including the following:
  • Dogs: Pekinese, Lhasa, Apso, Shih Tzu, Pugs, Maltese, Yorkshire Terrier, Silky Terrier, Poodles, Chihuahua, Pomeranian, American and French Bulldogs
  • Cats: Persian, Himalayan
SMVHS does not perform spay/neuter procedures on the following types of animals:
  • dogs or cats who are in poor health
  • animals over the age of 5
  • animals who are obese or emaciated
  • animals deemed an anesthetic risk
Please call during regular SMVHS business hours to schedule an appointment to have your cat or dog spayed or neutered.

We also partner with Catalyst for Cats and The Feline Network to provide spay/neuter services for feral cats. If you have feral cats on your property, or would like to assist with any Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) programs, please contact the above agencies or contact the SMVHS for more information.
